Chamila Wickramasinghe started her journey by taking the first step in learning Kulasiri Budawatta during her childhood. Therefore, she had came more than 25 years in dancing journey till today day. Chamila Wickramasinghe finished her school reading on the subject of art at Kottawa Dharmapala. In the year of 1999, they dancing queen has begun Uma dance academy & she succeeded from her own dance academy. Today as a teacher, she has enlightened the dancing life of a large number of students & troupe with professionalism in dance in her own.

The troupe of Uma Dancing Academy performed theatre, TV shows, dealer conversations, and music videos. Chila Wickramasinghe & the Uma dance troupe will dive in to entertain you with some traditional, creative & modern dancing skills which are based on kandiyan, indian dance & freestyle. She has begun her job as a dancing teacher at St, Thomas college, mount lavinia in 1997.



Ms.Chamila having dancing experience for over 25 years of which can touch the heart of the audience by performing creative innovations. She almost had already done 4 shows in her dancing life & they have successfully completed. Chamila Wickramasinghe gives fabulous co-operation to make Srilankan dance to reach a higher position. She has her own identity of her. Through her modernization, it passes that she has a culture in her own right. Her lifelong passion for dance has made her compatible with the art.

What are the similarities between Kandyan Dance and Bharatha Natyam?

Some of the similarities, between Kandyan Dance and Bharatha Natyam are the half sitting position, separation of feet, (the gap between the two legs are wider in Kandyan dance than in Bharatha Natyam) and Knee facing two directions (right and left), stretching the arms at the shoulder level, neck movements following the hand movements are some of the similarities between the two classical dance forms.
